The Braves’ season ended in a 39 – 47 loss to Caledonia Cavaliers, No. 3 seed, in the first round of District 1-4A playoffs at Itawamba Community College on Tuesday night.

The Braves got on the board first with Ayden McDeavitt scoring a three-pointer and kept Caledonia, plagued with missed shots and multiple turnovers, from scoring until just under a minute left in the first quarter.

Levi Dawson got the rebound from a Cavaliers missed shot and passed the ball to Kayson McNutt. McNutt passed to Chase Booker as he drove to the goal, lost the ball off his leg, regained control, and went up to score two points.

Both teams headed into the locker room at half-time with a low-scoring game, tied at 15 each.

The third quarter ended with the Braves up 27 – 25.

Booker was already in foul trouble with four fouls when the Braves found themselves on the wrong side of the fouls called, as they had five straight fouls called against them in the fourth quarter, and now Dawson is in foul trouble.

Once Caledonia went up by 5 points, their biggest league of the night, the Braves could not turn it around.

The Braves’ leading scorer was McDeavitt with 14 points and Booker with 11 points.

Connor Bullen and Dawson closed their high school basketball career leaving it all on the floor with points in the book.
