The 2023-2024 school year has gotten off to a positive start at Tishomingo County High School. Clubs are getting underway with enrollment for FBLA and Foreign Language Club. Beta Club has already started volunteering in the concession stand for volleyball, and ProjectLit Book Club is packing books in tote bags for foster children. Last week for Homecoming festivities, students decorated doors and dressed up for school spirit. Friday night, Zoe Dawson was crowned homecoming queen.

On Friday night, your TCHS Braves hosted the South Pontotoc Cougars in the homecoming game. The game was close the entire night being tied 25-25 at the end of regulation. South Pontotoc received the ball first to start overtime and scored on fourth down. With it being the Braves chance to tie the game back up on fourth down, starting quarterback Eli Edwards went down with an injury. Sophomore, Christian Ray came in to take Edwards place with one down left. The Braves ended up coming up short, losing the game 32-25. The Braves are now 2-3 in the season with their first division game on Thursday against Amory in Tupelo.

The TCHS volleyball team has had a fantastic start to division play. The Lady Braves are currently 5-0 in their division. They are also on a roll outside of division play winning 18 of their last 19 sets. The Lady Braves have had sweeps in five out of their last six games. Recently, outside hitter Reese Moore hit a milestone with reaching 1,000 career kills. Things are looking up for the Lady Braves going into the playoffs this year. Cross Country at TCHS is having a successful season as well with Tyson Anglin and Destini Simmons placing in the top 20 at their most recent meet.
