This summer we have had the best student intern here at the Tishomingo County News, Madelyn Pruitt.
A rising sophomore studying sports broadcasting at University of Mississippi, Madelyn was able to get some hands-on journalism work covering local stories for Tishomingo County - from the Board of Supervisors to the historic Iuka Drive In! She learned how a small staff makes the entire Tishomingo County News happen each week, and got more than she bargained for when the editor had to work from home with Covid during the July 4th weekend issue, including a special sale section! She was grace under pressure, and gained some serious real-world experience.
She has made a big difference in our summer coverage and we will miss her as she heads back to Ole Miss for fall classes in a couple weeks. Be sure to look for her as she works for Ole Miss sports department in the coming years.
Madelyn and her family drove out West to Las Vegas, with all the necessary stops along the way, including the Grand Canyon, where she left them a Tishomingo County News!
