In what was expected to be the last of Tishomingo Arts Council’s summer workshops revolving around the library’s summer reading theme “Oceans of Possibilities,” participants were invited to learn more about the ancient aquatic trilobite, how trilobite fossils could be found locally, and to try their hands at finding fossils themselves by cracking through layers of shale.
The day was broken up into three sessions of fossil-finding with a fourth session dedicated to making wire-wrapped jewelry from fossil trilobites that were uncovered.
With all three fossil-finding sessions filled to capacity, TAC organizers will be scheduling another round of workshops to meet demand. Those who were interested in Saturday’s sessions but were unable to be seated are encouraged to follow the Tishomingo Arts Council Facebook page to catch the next opportunity and registration information coming soon!
