If you are new to sewing or just need a refresher, join us at the Iuka Library on Monday, November 21 at 10:00 a.m. for a Sewing Demonstration by Emily Vestal, the 4-H Extension Agent for Tishomingo County. Emily will demonstrate the basics of sewing, such as how to thread a machine and how to sew a straight stitch.
Throughout November and December, two sewing machines will be available for individual use for periods of up to 1.5-hour sessions. During this time, patrons can use the machine for their own personal mending needs.
“We would like to thank the Mississippi Library Commission for loaning us the sewing machines to provide these programs,” says Dee Hare, NERL Director. “We hope that these programs will be the start of several new making and crafting opportunities at our branches.”
Teresa Templeton, Iuka Librarian says “We are very excited for the library to offer this service for our patrons.”
To sign up for the class, individual sewing sessions, or for more information, call the Iuka Library at 662-423-6300.
