The Mississippi Conference of the United Methodist Church is excited to announce the opening of Grace United Methodist Church in Iuka, Mississippi.
Our worship services will begin at 11:10 am July 2nd. Our new location for services will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church located at 205 E Eastport St, Iuka, Mississippi. Our pastor is Rev. Steve Kennedy. He and his wife Angie together have served the United Methodist Church over the last 31 years. Bro. Steve will be joined in ministry by Catherine Thomas who will be serving as his associate and children’s ministry coordinator for the parish.
Grace UMC has been designated as a Lighthouse Church. Lighthouse churches are churches that are uniquely equipped to welcome anyone whose church has closed or disaffiliated. ADDITIONALLY, its ministry is intended to minister to ANYONE who for any reason feels as though they have been left behind in the wake of changes and circumstances they could not control. Lighthouse churches are meant to be a place of rest and healing with people who have only two desires, to love God and one another.
As a Lighthouse Congregation, we are simply here for anyone who needs the care and love of a faith community built on the two most important commandments offered by Christ. We will love God with all of our hearts our souls and minds and any person of any stripe who crosses our path in this life or the threshold of our church. Our mission is to make a difference in our world, our community, and each other’s lives, all of it in the glorious name of Christ.
In closing, we want to offer a profound word of thanks to the good people of St Mary’s Catholic Church and Father Tim Murphy for allowing us to use their Church as our place of worship at this time. May God bless you all for the kindness you have shown us!
We invite anyone who would like, to join us this Sunday as we worship and serve God and Christ in the great traditions and fellowship of the United Methodist Church. Our light is on for you!
Grace and Peace
Bro. Steve Kennedy
