Friday night at Braves Stadium, fall sports fans will get to meet the newest versions of the TC Braves football, cheer and volleyball teams, and the Pride of the Tribe band!
Here’s a preview!
Football Braves with a new coach
Head Coach: Cory Quinn
Previous Record: 1-9
Returning contributors: Chandler Williams, Jaxson Pryce-Jones, McKinley Davis, Rylee Weeks
The Braves go into this non-contact scrimmage with a lot of questions to answer. How will Coach Quinn start off his career as a Brave? How will the Braves fill the massive gap at QB left by Blake Counce? These questions will soon be answered as the Braves start their tough schedule on August 26, at Mantachie.
Volleyball chasing victories already
Head Coach: Brian Middleton
Returning Contributors: Reese Moore, Gracie Crowe, Sara Howell, Zareli Ozuna
Volleyball is going for their first ever back-to-back playoff appearance in program history. They were second in Division 1 - 4A last season. Returning a strong core, Coach Middleton plans to hit the ground running with his new, young team.
The Lady Braves opened their season last Saturday with a pair of games in the Pontotoc Classic. They won a game against East Webster and lost a game to Belmont. They now sit at 1-1.
With that strong start, we look forward to seeing how far the Lady Braves will go this year.
TC Cross Country working through summer to reach peak season condition
Head Coach: Amanda Taylor
Returning Contributions: Tag Hart, William Methvin, Annsleigh Fair, Brianna Tensley
Speed, endurance and power; these are all things necessary to be a cross country runner. This year, the TC Braves have been working hard at building those traits up. They have been working through the summer heat, and conditioning to be able to perform at the highest level. Coach Taylor has this year’s team in tiptop shape, as they prepare for their first meet at New Albany, which is a good challenge since they are division opponents. They hope to send more runners to state than ever before.
Band building on last year’s excellence
Head Director: Bradley Strom
Returning Contributions: Silas South, Brianna Tensley, Ava Henry, Cole Richardson
The “Pride of the Tribe” has always been a shining star on the campus of Tishomingo County High School. Band director Bradley Strom said, “I hope to build on where we left off from last year. The 2022/2023 TCHS Band is extremely talented, and I hope to do some amazing things with this group.” Last year the band received superior ratings at the competitions at Russellville, NEMCC, and Gordo, Alabama. The band made an excellent rating at Tupelo but fell short of the state championship contest. This year the band is after the coveted “Sweepstakes Award.” That means the band in question gets superior ratings in marching, concert, and sight reading by all the judges. The Braves also have a new drum major! Cole Richardson is here, and he is ready to leave his mark on TC as the Senior Drum Major.
