Lillie Mae Helton, 84, of Iuka, Mississippi, passed away surrounded by loved ones on December 18, 2022, at Alive Hospice Residence in Nashville, TN. Lillie Mae was born on March 26, 1938, to Ezekiel “Bay” and Lillie Vada Morris Bugg in Iuka, MS. In 1954, she met Chester Howard Helton and left Burnsville High School during her sophomore year to wed her love a few months later. She later obtained her GED while being a devoted wife and mother. Lillie retired in 2004 from TVA Pickwick Dam after a long career. Lillie Mae was full of life and personality. She never met a stranger and was always willing to help everyone. She dedicated her life to be a loving wife and mother and loved supporting her family throughout their lives. She was also a passionate gardener and loved animals. When she wasn’t filling their home with warmth and kindness, she could be found playing in her flowers, tending to her chickens, turkey, guineas, cats, and dogs. Lillie Mae is survived by her son, Howard Lynn Helton; her daughter, Tammy Helton Hobbs (Barrett); her grandson, Harrison Lynn Hobbs; her brother, Harold Bugg; and her beloved dog, Trixie Belle. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ezekiel and Vada Morris Bugg; her husband, Chester Howard Helton; her grandson, Corey Lynn Helton; and two brothers, Ray Bugg and Wayne Bugg. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 9, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Visitation is scheduled for 12:00 until 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 9, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka.
