TUPELO - Honorable Ron Woodruff, 69, died Friday, May 12, 2023 at his home in Lee County from post-surgery complications. Ron was born in Tishomingo, Mississippi to Charles Woodruff and Frances Lee Nichols Woodruff. He moved to Zion, Illinois as a small child in 1955 and grew up there, graduating from Zion Benton High School where he was a star athlete on both the football and wrestling teams. He was All County and All State in both sports. He attended the University of Mississippi where he obtained his undergraduate degree and later graduated with a JD from the University of Mississippi Law School. He loved the law and working at Waide and Associates with no plans to ever retire. His roots ran deep in Mississippi and Tishomingo County. He did a lot of work on his beautiful house and boat dock and loved his beloved mother, his garden and flowers. He was generous of heart and spirit and always cooked wonderful meals for holidays and large gatherings with family and friends. He was very active with his church and loved to volunteer.
A graveside service was Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Jackson Camp MB Church Cemetery in Tishomingo County. Visitation was at Holland Funeral Directors – Tupelo Chapel, who are honored to serve the family.
Ron is survived by two brothers, Harold Woodruff of Orlando, Florida, and Doug Woodruff of Tucson, Arizona, a sister, Jo Ann Woodruff of Union City, Tennessee, sister-in-law Rita Holland of Paris, Wisconsin, nieces Bonnie Woodruff of Union City, Tennessee, Savannah Fields of Orlando and Diannah Davis of Somers, Wisconson, and nephews Bruce Woodruff of Goddard, Oklahoma, William Woodruff of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Chad Holland of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Derrick Holland of Kenosha, Wisconsin, and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Frances Lee Woodruff, and brother Elwood Woodruff.
Memorials may be made to the University of Mississippi Foundation, 406 University Avenue, Oxford, Mississippi 38655 to provide scholarships for aspiring law students.
