The Downtown Music Festival Event that was cancelled in anticipation of inclement weather the night of Heritage Day has been postponed until spring, organizers have announced.
Initially postponed until September 17th, organizers have moved it to spring to avoid conflicts, and to give committee members a break.
Those who purchased the $35 tickets in advance can get a refund by contacting the Iuka Heritage Committee member who sold them before October 1st. Any monies not refunded will go toward paying the expenses of the 2022 festival, or be saved to fund future events.
Heritage Day takes tens of thousands of dollars to produce, and committee members work hard on fundraisers through the year, but were counting on the music event to bring in a similar amount as the Food Truck Festival in June. That brought in nearly $8,000 for Boys and Girls Club of Iuka, and was a very enjoyable evening of good food, great music and fellowship in Jaybird Park.
Volunteers are welcome to help plan and operate next year’s Heritage Day. They are hoping for an even bigger and better event than the outstanding 2022 event.
