Dorothy Bacon Farr, of Iuka, Mississippi, departed this life on Thursday, July 13, 2023. Visitation is scheduled for 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., Tuesday, July 18, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m., Tuesday, July 18, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by The Reverend John Garrett and Dr. Johnny Hancock. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

She was born June 16, 1943, to the late Thomas F. and Blanche Biggs Bacon. Dorothy graduated from Iuka High School with highest honors at the age of 16. She was active in all the school functions, winning special recognition in many areas.

Dorothy was a lifelong member of Mt. Evergreen United Methodist Church and actively served in many capacities. For over 55 years she served as church treasurer which included two building projects. She also represented the Iuka North Charge of the United Methodist Church as a delegate to the Mississippi United Methodist Annual Conference in Jackson, MS.

Dorothy will be remembered for her strong work ethic, starting at the age of 12 as a part-time worker. Her career was varied and included being a sales lady, newspaper reporter, linotype operator, bookkeeper/office manager, co-owner of the local Chevrolet dealership, and finally, a position with the Iuka Post Office as a rural Lady Mail Carrier.

Dorothy played an active role throughout the years in community service activities. These included secretary of the Iuka Chamber of Commerce, president of the Lucy Rowe Study Club, Life Member of the local Gideon Auxiliary, Commissioner of the Tishomingo County Soil and Water Association, and member of the Tishomingo County Development Foundation. She also devoted many volunteer hours to obtaining sufficient membership for the formation of the Eastport-Snowdown Water Association in which she served as secretary.

Although she had no children of her own, Dorothy exhibited an unconditional love for many and received untold blessings. She is survived by her special and loving husband of 22 years, Ralph Farr; one sister, Ruby Bacon Butler of Huntsville, AL; one brother, Tommy Bacon (Martha) of Iuka; two nieces, including Liz Butler Young of St. Petersburg, FL, and a niece in Atlanta, GA; three great-nieces; one great-nephew; and a brother-in-law, Tom Farr of Nashville, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved first husband, Harvey Honeycutt; and a brother-in-law, Rex Butler.

     Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS, is entrusted with arrangements. Pallbearers include David Whitfield, John Dennis Daugherty, Tommy Hester, Jarrad Robinson, Johnny Harber, and A. C. Morgan.
