Southward Signs Tishomingo High School quarterback Billy Southward signs with Mississippi State University as assistant coach Brownie Walker, along with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Southward, Coach Scrappy Hart, principal R.C. Strickland, assistant coach Charles Black and Billy’s brother Jim look on. Southward is the first gridder to ink a university contract since the Bulldogs resumed football activity He is the first student from Tishomingo County to sign with an SEC club in more than a decade. He was a major reason the Bulldogs went un-defeated in the Conference. Southward, who also excels in basketball was an All-Tippamingo performer.
