Carolyn S. Hamm, 74, of Iuka, Mississippi, died on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Tishomingo Community Living Center. Mrs. Hamm worked for the Farm Service Agency for over 30 years before retiring. However, her retirement didn’t last long, as she chose to go back to her very first job at BancorpSouth. She mostly stayed at the Iuka location, but every now and then, she was able to travel between the branches helping wherever needed before she retired once more. She attended church at the Yellow Creek Baptist Church and was a long-time member. For over 12 years, she was an assistant Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America. Mrs. Hamm was very talented and creative. She was born with an innate talent for the arts. Drawing with charcoal and pencil, painting, sculpting, and craftsmanship came naturally to her. Not only did she take an interest in her penmanship and the arts as a young girl, she continued to grow her talents and skills by learning to sew her own clothes, which is a talent she maintained throughout her life. She had a beautiful singing voice and made her debut singing with her sisters in Trentwood’s talent show when they were young girls. She continued to have a song in her heart her whole life, singing not only to her children and grandson, but as an active member of the church choir. She grew up riding horses, starting out with stick horses, so much so that her dad asked her mother if she thought there might be something wrong with her! When she finally graduated to the real thing, she would ride as often as she could, eventually meeting her husband Duane on a trail ride with mutual friends. Mrs. Hamm is survived by her daughter, Aislynn Hamm; her son, Jason Hamm; her grandchild, Sullivan Hamm; her sisters, Jeanette McCullar and Glenda Flexner; her aunt, Veneda Nichelson; her best friend, Linda Murrah; and her longtime friends, Brother Stanley and Martha Magill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane Hamm; and her parents, Ferrell and Rubene Skinner. Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, MS, is entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation is scheduled from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, officiated by Bro. Stanley Magill. Interment will be in Bishop-Skinner Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation. An online guestbook may be accessed at www.cutshallfuneralhome.com.
