20th Century Club Supports St Jude Hospital & Team 38852 for St Jude

On Nov 1st, Brenda Irwin & Catherine Thomas from the 20th Century Club, met with Emily Bell from Team 38852 for St Jude to deliver a $100 donation toward their pledge to raise money for St Jude Hospital. This is in conjunction with the annual St Jude Marathon in Memphis on Sat Dec 2, 2023.

Team 38852 is a team of runners representing IUKA, MS, and has been participating in this race for a total of 8 years. The race also includes distances of Half Marathon, 10K & 5K and this team of St Judes Heroes is ALL IN. You may have seen them training on the roads here in Iuka. Be sure to give them a wide birth for safety and let them know you appreciate what they are doing.

When asked how this all got started Emily Bell said, "In the beginning it was Libby Gearren, Rich Vanatta, and myself, 6 years ago the group grew and for the last 3 years have been running officially as Team 38852 for St Jude, pooling our efforts to fundraise. This year we have raised $4567 to further the research and services of St Jude Hospital. Over the years we have raised over $20,000." When asked why they do this, she replied, "We have all had family & friends affected by St Jude Hospital and all they do there." Families NEVER receive a bill from St Jude.

If you would like to join, team 38852, contact any of its members. Members of the team are Emily Bell, Bethany Franks, Lydia Lambert, Rebecca Grey, Ashlee Harris, Erica Wells, and Hannah Walker.

Brenda Whitfeild, President 20th Century Club commented, " We have been supporting St Jude with donations for many years, and this year we wanted that money to also support our local Iuka Team that participates in the Marathon. We are very proud of them.  We all know curing cancer in kids is not a sprint, it's a Marathon."
