On the morning of Tuesday, November 28th, 2023, at approximately 5:41 AM, the Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Department received a report concerning a possible stolen vehicle located at the Heritage Place Hotel, formerly known as the Battleground Inn, in Iuka, Mississippi. Responding promptly, officers from the Iuka Police Department and deputies from the Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Department proceeded to the hotel.
According to the Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Department, law enforcement identified the suspected stolen vehicle in the hotel's parking lot. Further investigation revealed that the occupant of the vehicle had secured a room on the premises. The individual was identified as Sarah Grace Rast, a 19-year-old resident of Corinth, MS. Rast was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with Receiving Stolen Property.
Another source indicated that at the time of her arrest, there was allegedly one or more unnamed individuals present with her in the hotel room, but it is unknown what charges, if any, these other individuals may face.
The report for the stolen vehicle originated from a filed report in Olive Branch, MS, where the vehicle, a 2020 GMC Yukon, was being sold by Crossroads Motors, a dealership out of Olive Branch. Sources indicated that the vehicle was test-driven on Saturday, November 25th, but was never returned.
It was noted that Rast had shared images on various social media platforms featuring herself allegedly alongside the suspected stolen 2020 GMC Yukon. The case remains under active investigation, and authorities are considering the possibility of additional charges in connection with the incident.
