The Burnsville Christmas Parade will be held on December 4th (Monday) at 6 p.m.. Lineup wil be at 5 p.m. at the Burnsville Shopping Center. This year’s parade promises to be very exciting for both the young and old.
Harvey Pendergrast has been named the Grand Marshall of this year’s parade.
Harvey has lived in Burnsville for 53 years. He and his family moved here on March 1, 1970. He is 87 years old. He was married to the late Ruth Pendergast. He has been very active in the community and his church. He is also known for being a very dedicated runner, completing numerous races & marathons. When he moved here, he opened his own insurance agency and then in 1976 he went into real estate as well.
He has been involved in many different civic duties since he moved to Burnsville. He served as the first president of the Burnsville chamber of commerce. He was involved with the Burnsville Fire Dept, acting as the first secretary. He was on the committee that built the library, and he was also responsible for getting Toltec factory, which still remains there today.
While serving on the chamber committee, the chamber needed funds, so Harvey began the first 5K Burnsville run to help with the needed funds.
He has been a member of the Burnsville tabernacle church for 53 years. During this time, he taught Sunday school for over 50 years.
Harvey has really enjoyed living in Burnsville all of these years. He has been blessed with many friends while living here. Harvey has often said that moving to Burnsville was one of the best decisions that he has ever made.
