Posted

On November 17th, 2023, the Darryl Worley Foundation accomplished a remarkable feat, raising over $200,000 at the 7th Annual Boats, Boots, and Ballads Songwriters in the Round event hosted at Marine Sales in Pickwick. Established in 2002 as a 501(c)3 benefit corporation, the foundation serves the needs of communities in Hardin and McNairy County, as well as surrounding areas in West Tennessee, Northwestern Alabama, and Northeastern Mississippi.

Their reach extends to various organizations, including St. Jude and LeBonheur Children’s Hospital. While this year’s fundraising didn’t surpass the previous record of $250,000, the substantial amount raised promises significant positive impacts. Notably, being the 7th annual occurrence of this event adds to its significance.

The event featured a live auction, showcasing a diverse array of coveted items that contributed to the success and exemplified the community’s generosity:

  • A signed Jalen Hurts jersey display
  • A signed Griswold Jersey from Chevy Chase
  • A Harding County Bank Gift Basket filled with southern goodies
  • A 39’ Acoustic Guitar signed and autographed by Luke Combs
  • Autographed Lyrics to “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere” by original Songwriter Jim Brown
  • A custom matted photo display of authentic Elvis Presley concert tickets dated Sept. 26, 2023, in Tupelo, Mississippi
  • A signed Jalen Hurts Eagles’ Helmet
  • An autographed Steven Van Zandt Acoustic Guitar
  • Autographed Lyrics of The Warren Brothers’ hit song “Red Solo Cup”
  • A Cobalt Basket Signed Jason Witten TN Vols Helmet
  • Autographed lyrics to Darryl Worley’s “Have You Forgotten”
  • A baseball signed by Pete Rose that reads “Sorry I bet on Baseball”
  • An autographed Darryl Worley Guitar
  • A signed Deion Sanders’ Dallas Cowboys Jersey Display
  • A barstool signed by Jim Brown, The Warren Brothers, and Darryl Worley.

This diverse array of auctioned items, combined with the event’s seventh annual occurrence, reflects the community’s generosity and underscores the positive impact of the funds raised on the Darryl Worley Foundation’s mission.

Notably, the success of this year’s fundraising propels the foundation over the edge, surpassing the milestone of over $1 million raised since its inception in 2017. The cumulative support from the community, coupled with this year’s achievements, emphasizes the enduring impact of the Darryl Worley Foundation in serving the needs of communities and highlights the generosity that has fueled their mission over the years.
