Meg Moore's story is inspirational, and it’s clear that she’s not just a talented athlete but a remarkable individual as well. Her accomplishments as a freshman, particularly winning the MHSAA Miss Basketball 4A award and contributing to a State Championship, are extraordinary. It’s a testament to her natural skill, drive, and leadership on the court, as well as her ability to stay humble and grounded despite all the attention.
“(I am) grateful,” Moore said. “That title is a huge accomplishment and I’m very blessed to have been selected for it.”
The award recognizes the best of the best in each division. It is selected by a board of coaches who nominate players for the award. If a coach has a nominated player, they are not allowed on the committee. The award is strictly based on the player’s performance on the court.
“It is quite an honor for me to have a player recognized as Miss Basketball.” Head Coach Brian Middleton said. “I feel that it is an honor for Meg, but also an honor for our program and team. I definitely am proud as her coach.” Middleton recognized Moore for becoming more of a leader on the team this season.
What really stands out about Moore is her mindset. She recognizes that her achievements are not just about talent but are rooted in a strong work ethic and her faith. In a world where the spotlight can sometimes shift the focus away from what's truly important, Moore’s ability to stay focused on the things that matter — family, faith, and hard work — is impressive.
The fact that she has the support of her family, including her older sister, Reese, adds such a beautiful dimension to her journey. The shared experience of playing together in the state championship must have been an unforgettable moment for them and the Moore family.
“We are thankful to be able to help her reach her goals.” Brian and Amy Moore said.
On top of that, her recognition from major Division 1 programs speaks volumes about her potential to continue growing both on and off the court. With offers from universities like Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Alabama, the future looks incredibly bright for Meg. It seems like she’s not just a player to watch but a person whose journey will inspire many.
Her relationship with her coach and her commitment to her team also highlight the importance of surrounding yourself with a strong support system and how that can elevate your performance and development.
“It’s been overwhelming the support I have received from the people in our town.” Moore said.
As a freshman, Meg Moore is already setting the bar high, and it’s exciting to think about the impact she will continue to have in the years to come. Definitely someone to keep an eye on.
