Playoff thrills continue this week

For the Lady Braves, a good start to their playoff run was necessary. They first had some business to take care of in the division tournament: the Mooreville Troopers for the division championship. The game started off slow for both teams, but towards the end of the 3rd quarter the shots began to fall for the Lady Braves. A few critical stops and a couple of huge baskets later, the battle-tested Lady Braves won 48-44 for a three-peat in division championships.
They were matched up with their first-round playoff opponent, the Senatobia Warriors. The game was never really close, and TC won 66-32. With that win, they move into the second round where they will host last year’s 4A state champions in Choctaw Central. That game will be Friday, February 17.
Baseball
Baseball opened their season with a jamboree at Kossuth High School on last Saturday, February 11. They opened up with a 4-1 win against Baldwyn, and then grabbed a 7-5 win in the afternoon game against Biggersville. The games were highlighted by good pitching, great defense, and a good hitting performance all around. They turn around for their home opener on Tuesday, February 14 against Ripley, and they have a road trip scheduled for February 17 at Kossuth.
Softball
The Lady Braves softball team opened up with a jamboree on Saturday as well. On the morning side of the Mooreville Jamboree, they dominated New Albany with an 11-0 thumping. Then in the afternoon game, they lost to a tough Pontotoc team by a score of 10-7. Their week consists of a home game against Alcorn Central on February 14th and another home game against Kossuth on February 16. They will also take part in the Belmont Classic, a tournament scheduled for February 18.
