Painted Lady ready for summer and weddings!

Weddings, showers and events on the calendar for the luxury bed and breakfast

When it comes to unique places to stay, it doesn’t get better than Iuka’s own Painted Lady, which is experiencing new life as a wedding and event venue, and a bed and breakfast as well!
Managed by an Iuka team of ladies in various medical fields, the house has been the scene for several parties, showers, and photo shoots and has a few weddings booked since they took over last fall.
“We may be way more excited about the upcoming weddings than the brides,” joked Sara Cooley Norman, while the team showed us around the home this week.
Norman is part of the team that also includes Music Senter and Tara Wadkins, and they see themselves as stewards of the grand home that is full of authentic antique furnishings acquired by the former owners.
“There’s always a lightbulb to change,” smiled Wadkins. She explained that the front porch railing was being repainted in preparation for spring and summer events.
For the upcoming weddings, they are making all the arrangements, meeting with the families and acting as wedding coordinators for the venue.
The 5,800 square foot home can seat about 100 guests, and there are extensive porches and gardens for guests to enjoy, as well. The home overlooks historic Mineral Springs Park, and 300 guests can sit on the lawn for outdoor ceremonies.
For bed and breakfast guests, they have breakfast catered in from Cream and Sugar café downtown, and many repeat guests have come to stay in the ornate rooms with ensuite baths. The kitchen/family room/ garage addition on the back of the house provides a completely modern kitchen and bar area for serving guests of any number. It was built in 1859 and renovated in 2012 using the finest craftsmen in the area to restore the home to its former glory, while adding all the comforts of modern living – from a house-wide music system to an elevator.
Allowed pretty much free roam of the home while staying, its easy for guests to imagine life in the old “grand dame” of Mineral Springs Park.
