As the summer weather approaches, an exciting change has come to the Eastport area. The newly renovated Eastport Marina had its soft opening Mother’s Day weekend.
With summer break and the upcoming Memorial Day weekend approaching, the marina and restaurant are open for business with continuously evolving plans. The new owners are working to improve and enhance the marina, restaurant, and other nearby amenities.
“We’ve been excited to open our doors to the lake community after a winter of extensive renovations. With the marina open 7 days a week from now until Labor Day weekend, we’ll be watching and learning what performs well and tweaking as we go through the season. We also continue to receive new products weekly as we provide lake necessities, trending items, and the ease of being able to pick up food and beverages without having to go all the way into town,” says the new marina owner.
The new kitchen and menu have been enhanced to include food that anyone will enjoy. They have options to easily transport, or sit down and enjoy. Opening at 8 a.m. each weekend, breakfast options include the classics like Belgian waffles, biscuits and gravy, donuts, and breakfast sandwiches (to name a few). Lunch is served until closing at 5 pm with hamburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, and chicken tenders. For Memorial Day weekend the marina will be open until 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
“Hunt Brothers Pizza has already been a success for the restaurant in the short time we’ve been open,” says the management team.
While the full menu is available every weekend during summer, you can purchase pizza and sandwiches throughout the week.
Mother’s Day weekend, the marina handed out a white rose to each mother who visited on that Sunday to show their appreciation for everyone that brought their mother to visit the new facilities. Families could be seen outside playing on the new deck, enjoying the outdoor games, or sitting on the shaded deck over the water.
The marina also features six rental boats, 120 wet slips, and dry storage for 100 boats with plans of expanding the dry storage area. With advance notice, they even offer valet service at a nominal fee that uncovers the boat, fills it with fuel, and has it ready to be launched for those looking for the ease of getting onto the water quickly. The renovated restaurant space will eventually seat 30 people indoors with booths already on order. Another 45-50 people can relax on the outdoor patio that overlooks the water. After polling the community through social media, they added several ice cream options, including a dedicated Dippin’ Dots machine.
Select IPAs and other nationally branded beer options can be found on tap along with specialty canned drink beverages not normally found in the local area.
The marina is stocked with custom apparel, including colorful lake shirts, Coola, and Peter Grimm branded items. Sunscreen, marina gear, hats, and other home necessities round out the new space.
“We boated over from the Alabama side of the lake to see the renovations and grab some snacks,” said one Memphis family. “It was an unexpected surprise to find breakfast options and we enjoyed visiting two days in a row after we realized we could boat our mom over for breakfast on Mother’s Day.”
The marina is currently open seven days a week until Labor Day weekend with a full restaurant menu on weekends. Come by boat or vehicle and see the exciting changes they are bringing to the Eastport area.
