Hayden Drake Whitaker, a former resident of Virginia, enlisted in the United States Air Force. He commenced his military journey by attending Basic Military Training (BMT) at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. Throughout his BMT, Hayden underwent training in various fundamental military skills, encompassing land navigation, marksmanship, communications, first aid, customs and courtesies, and numerous other subjects. Hayden's dedication and excellence in all these areas earned him the distinction of being named Honor Graduate of his class, along with receiving an award for his outstanding physical fitness.

Upon the successful completion of BMT, Airman Whitaker was assigned to the 334 Squadron at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi, where he pursued technical training in Battle Management. Once again, Hayden excelled in his training and was granted the Air Force Specialty Code of 1C531, Weapons Simulation Technician. His accomplishments led to a promotion to Airman First Class. He is currently serving in the 337th Air Control Squadron at Tyndall Air Force Base, located near Panama City Beach, Florida.

Airman First Class Whitaker is the son of the late SSG (Retired) Jason Whitaker and Kellee Whitaker Crone, along with her husband Jon. He is also the grandson of Tommy and Judy Whitaker of Iuka. Hayden graduated from Stafford High School in Fredricksburg, Virginia, in 2021. His younger brother, Ryan, is currently serving in the U.S. Army, and another brother, Kyle, has plans to enlist in the U.S. Marine Corps next year. Two additional siblings, Jacob Olmos and Cathrynn Whitaker, reside in Iuka with their mother, Nayra Whitaker, and attend Tishomingo County High School and Iuka Middle School, respectively.
