In a hurry but still need to take something to a gathering? Here’s a few recipes we gathered up that we love, and they are quick, but still impressive.
I know you’ll love Tammy’s stories, too! Good memories!
Sally’s Candy
Tammy: I was getting my haircut one day before Christmas and my stylist at the time made these. This was probably 30 years ago. While I was sitting there and listening to others, I ate a couple. Sally was telling me how easy they were to make. They have been an easy candy to take to church and work events. They are so good.
2 lbs. white chocolate
2 cups dry roasted peanuts
3 cups rice crispy cereal
2 cups mini marshmallows
1 cup peanut butter
Melt chocolate and add peanut butter. Add the rest of ingredients from above. Spoon on wax paper and let sit for a few minutes to set up.
No Name Candy
Tammy: This came from my dad’s sister, Edith Decker was a wonderful cook. Edith and my mom would talk to each other for hours and would send each other a new recipe all the time. This was one of those. It did not have a name on it, so that is why it is called no name candy. Edith family and our family were in Chicago growing up. Like several people back in those days did. Edith and Bill had 5 children (3 boys) and there were 5 of us. Food was a big deal at our house. This is where the southern lady became wonderful cooks sharing our southern ways with northern women learning others ways. Mom said the whole building and then neighborhood would share their recipes. I will never forget the love between Edith and my mom. I miss them both.

Stir together first four ingredients. Drop dough by lightly-greased tablespoonfuls onto parchment paper-lined baking sheets. Press an almond in top of each cookie.
Bake at 350 for 15-17 minutes or until golden. Remove to wire racks to cool. Microwave 1/2 c. chocolate morsels in a bowl at high one minute 15 seconds or until melted and smooth, stirring at 30 second intervals and at end. Spoon or pipe lines over the candies.
