Continuing to improve the Tishomingo County News/The Vidette

We are so thankful for the support of our readers, subscribers and the whole community through this past year of rebuilding the News, and we have plans for expansion and more features telling the story of Tishomingo County, Pickwick Lake and all the great people who live here. We understand the responsibility of being the trusted source for all information about Tishomingo County.
Thanks for the patience you’ve shown us as we improved the business model to ensure that Tishomingo County will continue to have a functioning newspaper - a critical service for a community that many of us take for granted. We would like to give our services away for free, but then, you wouldn’t have a Vidette very long!
Imagine no newspaper to feature your children’s sports teams - of every age. No coverage of local elections.
Imagine no one to cover local events like the fair, plays, shows, grand openings, business developments, beauty pageants, job fairs, new restaurants.
Imagine never being able to clip out a local obituary, your friend’s or child’s achievement, and post it on your refrigerator.
Imagine never hearing anything about local government bodies - never having someone in the room to represent YOU, and to report on the processes you never have time to research.
I’ve worked for larger regional papers, and believe me, they do not value Tishomingo County readers or what goes on here. They have said so, and demonstrate it daily.
The Vidette - Out in Front
An associate recently reminded us of what a Vidette is; a sentry who was out front of the scouts, the pickets, on the very front lines - warning the ones who were supposed to be keeping the rest of the troops safe. We may not always completely fill that role, but we aim to be your source for information you can’t get from just social media, and we are willing to do the work to filter out what is real, and what matters.
We have made many changes in the past year in our ongoing effort to improve the Tishomingo County News, and the latest is coming up this week.
Up to now, the online Tishomingo County News/Vidette has been free to access for anyone, anytime. All the content you love is at your fingertips any time of the day, on any device. Old issues, daily obituaries, recipes, legal advertisements – it’s all online, searchable and shareable on social media!
