Six Years, ago we had the dishonor in Tishomingo County of the most roadside trash, according to MDOT! We have come a long way in Iuka and Tishomingo County, but we can do better, we can do more. A third grader little guy said his dad always threw his empty drink cup at the stop sign. This is “our” problem in the county and towns. What will you do to help?
My name is Nelson, my friend Willie helps with this problem. I told my “Pretty Woman” me and Willie was going to have a trash tournament, she said you need to have a trash master tournament. So, we had one, BIG success 57 bags collected by the United Pentecostal youth group. Three hundred for first place. Mr. John White picks up trash on his road. I told him about Willie Nelson trash master tournament and he wanted to know if we had to get high to do that. I said no, we just get silly. I love Tishomingo County and Iuka. My Johnson clan came here is 1818. My Chickasaw family came hundreds of years ago. Many of them moved to Tishomingo, Johnston County Oklahoma. That was in 1838.
So, my roots run deep. The Chickasaw people didn’t claim to own land, but it was given to them from God and the great spirit to keep it, to protect it, to honor it, to dress it. They became some of the best land, water and environmentalist in recorded history. If chief Iuka and Tishomingo were here today, I believe both would cry tears because of how bad we trash our beautiful land.
