On Thursday October 24th IMS basketball will be playing against Baldwyn. It will be a home game starting at 5:00pm, and all four teams will be playing. Come out and support your Chieftains and Lady Chieftains, and while you are there, check out the top notch concession stand we have for you!

Next week on October 27th to November 1st is Red Ribbon week. Red Ribbon started after the death of a Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent named Enrique Camerena, also known as Kiki. Kiki was murdered by drug traffickers he was investigating in Mexico in 1985. After his death people started to wear red ribbons to honor him for his sacrifice. Today millions of people celebrate Red Ribbon Week by wearing red ribbons, pleading to live drug free lives, and participating in anti-drug community events. Schools in Tishomingo county have a dress up week for Red Ribbon week to celebrate and teach kids to live a drug-free life. This year's dress up weekis as follows:

Monday- “Education is the Key to be Drug Free.” Wear a favorite college shirts

Tuesday- “Integrity Fuels Our Fight- Soar Above Temptation, Choose Honor Over Harm and Practice Self-Control.” Wear red to promote the house of Integrita(House Day)

Wednesday-”Drugs are Out of Character.” Dress up as a favorite book or movie character.

Thursday-”No tricks, just treats! Live Drug Free.” Dress in school appropriate costumes (no inflatable)

Friday-”Don’t Fall for Bad Choices.” Dress up in your fall colors, flannels, Halloween shirts (no costumes today)

Red Ribbon Week is a lot of fun, but it is also an important reminder that alcohol and drugs should not be a part of our story.

IMS FBLA is making “Trick or Treat” baskets for our local first responders. Students who make a donation of candy, snacks, gift cards, or thank you cards will receive a point for their House. Any community members who would like to make a donation can drop those off at IMS and pick a house to donate their point to. We will take donations up through Monday.

The book fair is going on this week at the IMS Library. Students can bring cash through Friday to purchase their favorite books and trinkets. Parents can also send money online for students to use at the fair. Check the IMS Facebook page for more information.

As we begin our second nine weeks, we would like to remind students to check the lost and found in the Cafeteria. Our lost and found area is becoming overwhelmed with items, and any unclaimed items will soon be donated. We would also like to remind students to bring a refillable water bottle each day to use at our water refilling stations in each hallway.

The first nine weeks has come to an end and our race for the House cup is underway! Currently, Mkali sits at the top of the leader board with Integrita in second and Synergi in third. The first nine week point leaders were for Credo, John-Grady Spencer, Rhianna Benefield, Kaylen Palmer, and Tyson Brown. For Integrita, Hayden Baker, Lizzy Preuette, Amelia Robinson, Addison Tucker, and Rawa AI-Maweri. For Makiramay, Luke Middleton, Deacon Ruple, Luke Menshy, and John Benedyk. For Meraki, McKenna Wadkins, Emily Gammill, Jacob Parson, Addi Grisham, and Natalie Schogen. For Mkali, Rhett Butler, Ty Crawford, Alydia McNeely, and Chanler Ayers. For Teenima, Liam Weeks, Demetri Webster, Camden Moore, and Caylee Hill. For Uongozi, Oaklee Newsome, Clay Robinson, Kynslie Stults, and Jaden Ray. We are very proud of these students! Their hard work, good character, perseverance, and generosity made them stand out from the pack!

The Iuka Middle School Softball team will be hosting the IMS Halloween Dance on November 1st. It will take place in the activity building from 6 to 8 pm and admission will be five dollars.
