IMS’ 2nd annual fall festival is coming up soon. The fall festival will be on October 4th, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. If you have any scary costumes or decorations that could be used please let us know by contacting Coach Nunley at bnunley@tcsk12.com. Any help will be greatly appreciated. There will be food trucks, carnival games, a Cake Walk, This and That, The Lunch Box, Axe throwing, and, of course, our infamous haunted hallway. Last year, our haunted hallway was epic, and this year, we have plans to make it even better. There will also be bouncy houses for little kids. Our fall festival will be an amazing experience for everyone. So, come out and bring your family and friends as we raise some money to help IMS purchase equipment for our students to use at break and PE.
Iuka Middle School held its annual “IMS has Talent” talent show last month. This event was sponsored by the IMS chapter of FBLA and is used to raise money for competition, service projects, and FBLA events. The talent this year was off the charts! We had so many categories and contestants that the show lasted longer than expected. We would like to thank all participants and spectators that came out to support FBLA and enjoy this event. There were 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each event. These winners can be found on the IMS Facebook page. The overall show winner was Miss London Kenedy singing “Rise Up” by Audra Day along with an accompanying performance by The Station’s youth group. Audience Choice winners were Miss Penny Hall in nonperformance and Ruth Ellen Castile in the performance category,
On Friday September 20th, IMS celebrated the orange house known as Makiramay. The characteristic that this house is known for is empathy. Students and faculty wore orange, talked about what empathy is and how they can show it to others, and played some fun games. During their “Tribe Time” discussion, the school also remembered Michael Walker and talked about his legacy. Michael was the embodiment of the characteristic of empathy. His big heart made him friends with a lot of different people. He was quick to stand up for someone that could not stand up for themselves and forgave easily. This day marked the three year anniversary of his death. We appreciate everyone for keeping his legacy alive, and ask that you try to live a life where you Love Like Mike.
IMS student athletes have been off to a great start this year! Their previous game they played a hard fought game against an excellent Baldwyn team. The players of the week for Baldwyn’s game were Charlie Powers and Adrian Jones. IMS also has student athletes playing on the TC Golf team and the TC Volleyball team. TC’s middle school volleyball team began the sweep for the night against Amory by winning in two sets. The players of the game were Addy Barber and Addi Jo Tucker. TC golf has several IMS students playing this year. Spencer Kirkhas started the season on high note becoming the highest ranked 8th grader in Mississippi.
Also, IMS had several band members who participated in TC’s first band competition of theseason. We would like to congratulate the TC band, Hayden Baker, Henry White, and HunterTriminal on their outstanding performance. The TC band’s competition earned them all 1’s, Best Drum Major, Best performance, and other top awards. IMS is very proud of our student athletes and wishes them all the best as their seasons continue.
