The Belmont Varsity Cardinals have kicked off their season in commanding fashion, securing three consecutive victories over Tremont, Hickory Flat, and Tupelo Christian.
Cardinals Crush Tremont in Home Opener
On February 18, Belmont overpowered the Tremont Eagles with a 13-2 win at home. The Cardinals exploded for nine runs in the first inning, setting the tone early. Miller Searcy led the offensive charge with three hits and two stolen bases, while Collier Clark drove in three runs. On the mound, Clark pitched three shutout innings, striking out eight batters and allowing no hits. Canyon Wright finished the game, recording two strikeouts in two innings.
Belmont Blanks Hickory Flat in Three-Inning Rout
Belmont continued its dominance on February 21, defeating the Hickory Flat Rebels 15-0 in just three innings. The Cardinals’ offense exploded in the first inning, scoring 10 runs before adding five more in the second. Parker Stanley and Clark both contributed two hits and three stolen bases. Collin Evetts had a standout performance with three RBIs. On the mound, Madden Wood pitched for a one-hit shutout, striking out seven batters.
Walk-Off Thriller Against Tupelo Christian
The most intense matchup came on February 22, when Belmont edged Tupelo Christian 3-2 in a tightly contested battle. Clark was the hero of the night, pitching a complete game with nine strikeouts and driving in the tying run. Stanley, Searcy, and Elijah Rogers each had RBIs, with Searcy also swiping two bases. The Cardinals secured the victory with a walk-off in the bottom of the seventh inning.
